About the tour
What could be more fitting while you attend a time use conference than to stand astride the Prime Meridian? Kimberly Fisher will lead a tour to scenic Greenwich. We will walk along the footpath under the river Thames, through the attractive Greenwich shopping district to the world's last tea clipper ship, Cutty Sark, sadly damaged by fire, but due to reopen in 2011.
From here, we proceed to Flamsteed House, alongside the Prime Meridian, which houses H1, H2, H3 and H4, the famous time pieces developed by John Harrison to measure time at sea - allowing the reliable calculation of longitude, enabling the location of the international mean time line in Greenwich.
Many more time-related treasures are to be found in the Old Greenwich Royal Observatory. Attractive grounds surround the Observatory, allowing us to take a peaceful park stroll to vantage points from which you will enjoy views of London.
The Observatory grounds border the National Maritime Museum and the Queen's House, where we head next.
We end the day with a microbrewery tour, beer tasting, and dinner at The Old Brewery.
